Our Story
EventBound didn't start in a boardroom with market research and whiteboard sessions. It started in a truck bay, watching equipment get loaded for a corporate event.
I've been building software companies since 2000, when I was a co-founder of KnowledgeLake right as the dotcom bubble was imploding. Great timing, right? That company survived, grew, and is still going strong 25 years later. I learned that successful software isn't about following trends. It's about solving real problems for people who actually do the work.
A few years ago, I became friends with someone deep in the event production and AV rental world. The stories I heard weren't about what they needed, they were about what was failing them. Disconnected systems. Data that didn't sync. Crew members confused about which truck had what gear. Operations managers spending hours in spreadsheets because their "rental management software" couldn't answer basic questions about equipment availability.
We started a company together called Gear Code to tackle one piece of the puzzle: making it easier to manage one his other business for wiring and equipment. But the more I learned about the industry, the clearer it became that the real problem was bigger. These companies weren't lacking features—they were lacking a system that understood how event production actually works. Then, I met another production professional who was fed up with scheduling software in the space. He had an entirely new concept for how scheduling should work for event crews. Not just digital versions of the old way—a fundamentally better approach built around how production teams actually operate.
That's when EventBound came into focus.
